Children’s Probiotics GONE?

Summer

Hi everyone!!  Hope you’re having a wonderful summer. And, a day early, but Happy 4th!!

We’re doing pretty well, except that our go-to children’s probiotics have been difficult to find (and here’s why). My regular readers know what a huge fan I am of Probiotics. They really improved our lives here in the Faust household! Take a look at the articles below, in resources, for some tips on getting the most out of your probiotic dollars (they’re usually not cheap!).

What Happened to Children’s Probiotic Pearls?

I wanted to give everyone an update on the Children’s Probiotic Pearls, from Integrative Therapeutics. Those are the probiotics that have been keeping our three monkeys healthy for the past few years. Unfortunately, Integrative Therapeutics has discontinued the children’s probiotics. Here is their reasoning:

Their other Probiotic Pearls are now FDA-approved for children. And their other Probiotic Pearls offer twice the probiotic for the same price. Therefore, they were finding that savvy parents were simply giving their kids the “adult” Probiotic Pearls, and few people were buying the Children’s Probiotic Pearls. Since those are now FDA-approved for children, Integrative Therapeutics, they simply discontinued the children’s version, and recommend any of their other Probiotic Pearls for children, too.

We miss the Children’s Probiotic Pearls, mostly because they were so small: even little kids who can’t normally swallow a pill were able to easily swallow the Children’s Probiotic Pearls.

Anyway, that’s the scoop. We have now switched over to the regular Probiotic Pearls.

Probiotics

Let me take this opportunity to remind you that the probiotic preparations that are normally marketed for children – liquids and powders – are mostly killed by stomach acid. That is, most probiotics are not protected by the unique enteric coating that Probiotic Pearls uses to get the probiotics past the stomach acid. So, give ‘em a try. They are the best that we have used. If you find Probiotic Pearls by Integrative Therapeutics for a better price than on my Amazon Store, PLEASE drop a comment here and let us all know where you found them! Send us the source for the best price for FREE boogordoctor’s eBook of your choice!

Thank you so much for the information!! We have been looking all over for the children’s version! Are these the same ingredients as the children’s? We had switched to one that had 1 billion vs their 3 billion and noticed a difference.

    • Russell A. Faust, PhD, MD says:

Yes, the same – except twice the amount! So, now our kids take one every other day, or every third day. Seems to be working okay. Be sure to take a look at the Integrative Therapeutics website. They are a very high-quality resource, and they invest heavily in research and development to be innovative and maintain their high quality. They have several lines of probiotics, depending on your specific needs. (Transparency: I have no financial or other connection with Integrative Therapeutics; I simply think their products are great, and we use them ourselves).
