Some Minor (very minor) Changes

Some Minor (very minor) Changes

by Russell A. Faust, PhD, MD

My regular readers may have noticed a couple subtle changes to my blog in the last week.

I eliminated the search box on the right hand column, and replaced it with a bar across the top.

To see it, just scroll down a little bit – see that sky blue bar with the boogor doctor logo on the far left (considering changing the color)? There is a search box on the far right end of that bar.

This isn’t just any old search box, either.

Check it out. Scroll down and type in something of interest – say, “nasal saline rinse”, and hit <enter>. Without needing to go out to another page to use Google or Bing or other search engine, the search results show up right here, right now.

Also cool: this search box shows results for Amazon, for this blog, for the web, and gives the option of searching for video or images, just like Google. Again, all without needing to open another search page. That ROCKS!

Clicking on <video> directly opens up the list of YouTube videos. Click on one of them and it opens the video right there on the page, again, without needing to go anywhere else!

And … (hint/hint) you can share anything on the page simply by clicking on the Facebook or Twitter or Email icon on the bar. Send interesting stuff to friends.

To search a topic anywhere on the page, simply click on it (highlight the term) and a small search box opens up right there. Cool.

My only complaint is that once you scroll down, this new search bar replaces the bar along the top of my page that shows “Home / About / Subscribe / “etc. But I’ll get over it. The utility provided by the new search bar makes up for that loss.

I am NOT an affiliate, so I don’t earn anything by saying this, but this search bar from apture.com ROCKS. This is very cool. Check it out, let me know what you think.
